Clinical Study of Nasal Bleeding

Abstract
427 cases of patients with nasal bleeding were observed at our clinic during the period of 6 years from January 1965 to December 1970. The following results were obtained.
1. As to the age and sex distribution, male, (273 cases) showed approximately twice the numbers of the female cases, and the patients between 11 to 20 years of age showed the most frequent numbers which were 98 cases (22.95%) and the next frequent number were fount] between 21 to 30 years of age (76cases or 17.79%)
2. As to the etiology of the nasal bleeding, 104 cases (24.35%) were cause by local lesions, 140.cases(32.79%) by systemic derangement and 183 cases (42.86%) by unknown causes.
3. Hypertension (over 150/100 mmHg) was the most frequent causes of the systemic derangement.
4. Spontaneous nasal bleeding was observed most frequently from April to June. (41.51%) and the patients between 11 to 20 years of age showed the most frequent numbers which were 49 cases(26.74%)
5. The bleeding occurred more often from the left nasal cavity than the right side among the 183 cases of spontaneous bleeding.
6. 131 cases of spontaneous bleeding started at Kiesselbach¢¥s area and 24 cases at the anterior portion of the inferior turbinate.
7. 188 cases were admitted for further management and out patient were 239 cases.
